Combining with Essential Oils for Enhanced Results Our naturopath, EFT practitioner has been combining essential oils and EFT for over 8 years in her private practice. The mind-body connection indicates that there is often a strong emotional component to pain.
EFT and Essential Oils Together Enhance Emotional Release—How? Essential oils are excellent for helping and healing physical issues, and very effective for emotional problems as well. Due to the therapeutic value of the known chemical components in essential oils, oils are understood to work with the brain in two ways: via olfaction and absorption. Essential oils have demonstrated therapeutic use, and are believed to affect emotional tendencies in a positive way.
Electric Frequency in Living Beings Frequency, a measurable rate of electrical energy that is constant between any two points, is present within every living being, according to Robert O. Becker, M.D., who wrote The Body Electric. In his research, he discovered that lower range essential oils actually create physical change in the body, and high frequency oils create spiritual and emotional changes. The frequencies of essential oils react to thoughts and prayers, and those frequencies can aid in many emotional issues. As Valerie Ann Worwood (author of The Fragrant Mind) says, both plants and animals are alive—“chemically, electrically, and in terms of infrared radiation." In fact, neurobiologist Donald Kennedy did a detailed study of the difference between plants and animals, demonstrating that there is actually very little difference.
How to Use Essential Oils for Emotional Healing and Emotional Freedom Technique There are many ways to use essential oils. The first thing to do is research—find what sort of oils are best for you. From there, begin with the art of smelling, as Worwood’s book proclaims. Take an open bottle of essential oil or a perfumer’s smelling strip (plotting paper with a smear of essential oil) in your hand and move in a circle about 6 inches underneath your nose. From there, inhale under each nostril. Be sure to focus and inhale deeply!
When using essential oils, remember that less is more! Doubling the amount will not double the effects, so use in moderation. There are not rules regarding the length of time for essential oil use—it depends on the person, the root of the problem, and other factors.
So, which method do you use? There are many different ways—try essential oils in a massage, bath, inhaling via steam distillation, or sniffing directly from the bottle. There are also diffusers, candles, room sprays, water bowls, humidifiers, and heat sources, like wax burners. What method you use depends on your requirements and circumstances. If you’re at the office, it’s likely that sniffing directly from the bottle is the best course of action. Experiment and find what works best for you!
Proceed Using the EFT Script By applying or using essential oils prior to EFT Tapping, the limbic system in the brain is activated (where emotions are stored), vibratory frequency is raised, and the emotional/energetic release from EFT is enhanced. This combination helps to re-pattern the emotions.
