Cypress was used by early physicians for lung treatments: patients were sent to the Crete Islands, which were packed full of cypress trees. Frequently called "Ever-Alive," the trees are able to live for hundreds of years. They can also be found in churchyards and burial grounds, due to their reputed connection with the afterlife. Egyptians use cypress trees to build coffins.
Cypress stimulates growth, trust, flow of life, emotional growth and flexibility. Those prone to perfectionism, controlling behavior, tension and rigidity may benefit.

Uses: Cypress is used in aromatherapy to assist with menopausal problems, circulatory conditions, rheumatism, colds, whooping cough, nervous tension, hemorrhoids, and wounds. It has also been known to induce sleep and provide mental clarity, as well as regulate the female reproductive system. Cypress maintains the spirit by connecting the physical worlds and mind with the soul, in order to promote inner wisdom. This essential oil helps aid the mind cope when starting a new chapter in life, as well as calm the worn-out mind. Cypress has been known to heal the body by soothing spasms in exhausted muscles, clearing toxins from muscles, reducing cellulite, and cleansing the skin of oily and acne impurities.

Helpful for loss, grief and difficult transitions. Soothing and positive. Blend cypress with rose oil for a blend that assists in grieving and outgrowing sadness. Diffuse cypress oil to calm the mind. Used in a soothing bath, 3 drops cypress and 3 drops french lavender will help to de-stress.
Cypress oil soothes muscular cramps, menstrual cramps, rheumatic pain. Beneficial for congested and oily skin and wounds: use 3 drops cypress, 3 drops tea tree, 4 drops pink grapefruit in 4 teaspoons (20ml) jojoba oil. Use in a massage or carrier oil, diluted in a lotion or cream for skin issues.
Cypress oil used in a cold compress is helpful for nosebleeds.
For breathing difficulties, can be used in a diffuser.
For easing life transitions, vaporize 2 drops of cypress and 4 drops of lemon.
To soothe overwhelming emotions, take a bath with 2 drops of cypress and 4 drops of lavender.
To soothe muscle spasms, mix cypress, ginger, and sweet marjoram and apply it to the disturbed areas.
To relinquish toxins from muscles and cellulite, blend cypress with grapefruit, and juniper berry and rub into the affected areas.
Oily skin can be treated daily using 3 drops cypress, 3 drops tea tree, 4 drops pink grapefruit in 4 teaspoons (20 ml) jojoba oil to cleanse and soothe the skin.
Cellulite can be countered by using 4 drops cypress, 4 drops pink grapefruit, 2 drops juniper berry in 4 teaspoons (20 ml) carrier oil for a vigorous daily massage of the affected area.
To ease spasmodic coughs, vaporize and inhale with 3 drops cypress and 2 drops cedarwood oil twice daily.
